Hired Olympus Roofing to come out and replace my roof. I received bids from a few different companies. They were the only ones to provide a nice information packet complete with references and accreditations without even having to ask for … More it. When they actually came out they were able to do a tear down of 5! layers of shingles, re-sheet, and re-shingle the house in one day leaving behind a nice complete and professional finished product. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a new roof. They may not be the cheapest option but they seem to be worth the price. Now it's just a waiting game to see how it holds up over the next 10, 20, 30+? years.

Great work! Olympus Roofing was very responsive and helpful through the whole process. Our roof was damaged in a windstorm that took place recently. Their price for the roof replacement was very fair. Not only did they crank our the entire … More project in a day, but they really had good quality work. The roof looks great! One thing I will mention is if you are afraid that your driveway might get damaged by the dumpster, make sure to tell them so that they can put extra plywood and take other precautions. The dumpster was delivered and I got concerned about our driveway. When I let Olympus know, they had the dumpsters company come back and put more protective materials under the dumpster that SAME DAY to give me more peace of mind. I was very impressed and felt valued as their customer.Highly recommend!Service: Roof installation

Ice Dam Removal / Heat Cable / Snow Retention Services Salt Lake City

Ice Dam Removal / Heat Cable / Snow Retention Services Salt Lake City

As local Salt Lake City roofers, Olympus Roofing understands that our community receives it’s fair share of rain, hail, sleet and snow. According to the National Weather Service, the city of Salt Lake receives about 28 inches of snow annually, about the same amount as the national average. While white winters may be beautiful; snow, sleet and ice can cause quite a bit of havoc on your property, especially your roof.

The Olympus Roofing team has diligently been serving the greater Salt lake area for the last 20 years and in all those years we’ve recognized that ice dams are a common problem for homeowners in the area.

What Is An Ice Dam?

Ice dams are an accumulation of ice on various parts of your roof, depending on the slopes. They tend to occur most often near the roof edges. When the layers of snow on your roof melts, this water collects and freezes again forming an ice dam.

Dangers of Ice Dams

Ice dams place tremendous pressure on the roof structure of your home. The moisture of these dams also significantly damages your shingles, gutters and downspouts. Melting ice may cause leakages in your home if there are gaps and holes in your roofing system. And for those who are not careful, you also risk being hit by falling icicles and large chunks of ice breaking off as it heats up.

Ice dams form when warmth from within the home melts the bottom layer of the snow on the roof, sending water trickling down to the edge of the roof. Upon crossing the “heat wall” or an area where heat is no longer escaping the structure, the water freezes, clogging gutter and causing the water to pool. This may allow water to spider under the shingles as it freezes, eventually finding its way into the home. Installation of a bituminous waterproofing membrane referred to as “ice guard” alleviates this problem.

Effective Ice Dam Removal By Olympus Roofing

At Olympus Roofing, we believe that the safest and most effective way to remove ice dams is with the power of steam. Fighting fire with fire as some would say. The ice dam steaming system that we use functions using high temperatures but low pressure. The high temperatures effectively and efficiently melts the ice on your roof, this water either evaporates or drains away from your home. The low pressure of the steaming system protects your shingles as high pressure systems tend to chip away at your roofing materials.
